Masterclass Erasmus+ con il M° Leon Lhoest

La Masterclass Erasmus+ con il M° Leon Lhoest  docente presso la Hogeschool Gent, School of Arts – KASK Conservatorium di Gent (Belgio) si svolgerà nei seguenti giorni:

Leon Lhoest studied piano, harmony, arranging and film composition at the Berklee College of Music in Boston (USA). He has a Master Degree in Jazz Composition & Arranging from the Royal Conservatory of Brussels (B).  
He currently teaches jazz harmony and analysis, (film & world) composition & arranging and practical harmony at the conservatories of Ghent (B) and Maastricht (NL).
He previously taught at the conservatories of Brussels and Antwerp (B). He was successively coordinator of the jazz departments at the conservatories of Brussels and Antwerp, and chair of the jazz/pop department at the Conservatory of Ghent.  
Through Erasmus+ he taught at the conservatories of Amsterdam (NL), Livorno (I), 2x Pesaro (I) and 2x Rome (I). He also taught harmony and conducted the gospel choir at the Institut National des Arts (I.N.A) in Kinshasa – Congo.  
In 1981 he won the 1st prize at the Hoeilaart (B) Int. Jazz Contest (now B-Jazz) with the Mika Quartet. Twice he won the SABAM competition for jazz composers. He was the pianist and musical director of the singer Demis Roussos and performed on occasion with Chaka Khan. He works together with musicians like Bart Defoort (its), Dieter Limbourg (as), Nico Schepers (t), Fabien Degryse (gtr), Bart De Nolf (b) and Jan de Haas (d). He is the pianist of the Belgian Swing Jazz Orchestra.
He arranged for the BRT Jazz Orchestra and the Limburg Symphony Orchestra.  
Since 2001 he has his regular column about music theory in the journal Jazz & Mo’ (former jazzmozaïek). He is the author of the book "Ins and Outs van jazz harmonie" (2016).
