• THE UNMANNED -
1953 - THE OUTLAWED (2018) by Fabien Giraud & Raphaël Siboni, 14'00''
Yun
Huang (CN)
- IN WHICH HE
CHANGES THE RULES OF THE GAME AND ALL IMITATIONS ARE SUDDENLY INTERRUPTED -
Third episode of the UNMANNED series and replicating the editing structure of
“1834 – LA MÉMOIRE DE MASSE”, “THE OUTLAWED” takes place in August 1953 on the
island of Corfu, in Greece, at the club Méditerranée Resort where Alan Turing
spent his last summer. On a sunny afternoon, the mathematician and inventor of
the modern computer, subjected to hormonal treatment after being convicted for
his homosexuality, embarks on a makeshift raft to study the morphogenesis of
marine organisms. As he explores the coast, the raft progressively drifts away.
In the absence of any shore, lost at sea, an ungrounded scene unfolds.
• Piece Touchée by
Martin Arnold (1989), 15'37''
Sandro Manzon (CA)
Based on an 18
second clip from a 1950s Hollywood film, Arnold reconfigures and
recontextualizes the choreographic movement and thus highlights the depth and
relationships between time and movement. The re-envisioned musical score aims
to amplify and punctuate such relationships. The musical gestures follow the
subtle and intriguing changes in the almost dance-like movement of the
characters. The flow of time in this work is paramount, and the music, unlike
the movement in the film, can only move forward to highlight and add implicit
meaning to the carefully examined movements, gestures and expressions of the
two characters.
• Becoming (2018)
by Jan Van ljken, 6'15''
Sandro Manzon (CA)
The film displays
single cell becoming a living organism. The Music, inspired by the image and
text from the Chinese religious text Dao De Ching, the music and images depict
the magic of conception, sentience, and the cyclic nature of life.
