Anthony Plog renowned American composer, conductor, and trumpet player.
Trumpet studies were first with his father Clifton Plog and later with Irving Bush, Thomas Stevens and James Stamp.
He began to work as an extra for the Los Angeles Philharmonic at 19 years old. Later he would become principal trumpet with the San Antonio Symphony (1970 to 1973) and associate principal with the Utah Symphony (1974 to 1976). He then supported himself by playing principal trumpet with the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra and the Pacific Symphony, and by occasionally recording soundtracks in the film studios (Star Trek, Gremlins, Rocky 2 & 3).
In 1990 he moved to Europe, where he played in orchestras and was featured as a soloist, teaching in prestigious schools and universities. In 2001 he retired from playing to focus on composition.
Many of his works have been requisites in prestigious international trumpet competitions, and almost all have been recorded (some of them up to four or more times).
